Karen Lee is the Chair of the Board of Pinnacle Behavioral Health, Inc., the parent company of Elk River Treatment Program. Ms. Lee is a graduate of Charity Hospital/Xavier University where she earned a Master’s Degree in Nurse Anesthesiology. In addition to her nurse practitioner skills, she has been involved in the organization and management of a large anesthesia practice. She has led the growth of Pinnacle Behavioral Health's residential and academic programs since forming the company 2005. Ms. Lee developed a keen interest in behaviorally disordered teens when her oldest child manifested problems, prompting her to place him in a treatment program. She is the mother of two sons and a daughter.

As a child, Ms. Carpenter developed an interest in Recreation Therapy while working at an equine-assisted rehabilitation facility for children. She aspired to start her own program one day and set out to earn a degree in Business Finance and Recreation Therapy at the University of South Alabama. One semester in the College of Business helped her discover her real passion and it wasn't in the College of Business. She changed her major to Leisure Studies with a concentration in Recreation Therapy and never looked back. Since graduating, Ms. Carpenter has worked with adults with substance use disorders and adolescents that struggle with behavior, mental health and/or substance use disorders. Sam Fleischman began his career at Elk River began in 2015 as Direct Care Staff. He continued working as a member of the Direct Care team for two years while pursuing a Master's Degree in Social Work. Mr. Fleischman earned an undergraduate degree in Social Work at the University of North Alabama in Florence, AL. He played Division II college basketball for four years while pursuing his undergraduate degree. Mr. Fleischman later earned a graduate degree in Social Work at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, AL. Once completing his graduate degree, he transitioned to Elk River's Clinical Team. Mr. Fleischman is also one of the program's staff trainers.  He currently lives in the Huntsville, AL area with his wife.

Angel Daniels is an Associate Licensed Counselor and a member of the clinical team at Elk River Treatment Program for adolescents. Ms. Daniels earned a master’s degree in Counseling at Faulkner University. Her work experience includes positions as a mental health and substance abuse counselor for children and adults in outpatient and residential settings, including individuals who were incarcerated.

Clients enter treatment with various backgrounds and circumstances. Bo Wolfe has lived in Alabama, Tennessee, Colorado, Wyoming, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. While in Wyoming, he developed his interest in white water rafting, mountain biking, and rock climbing. He has been active in backpacking and canoeing for most of his life. Mr. Wolfe graduated from the University of Wyoming with a degree in English. He worked at an experiential education center/ropes course facility run by George Mason University before joining Elk River Treatment Program where he has served as a group leader, assistant program director and now program director. Mr. Presley joined Pinnacle Behavioral Health, Inc. in 2016 as a Social Studies Teacher at The Pinnacle Schools. He has since taught for the Teen’s Path to Success program in Morgan County Jail and currently teaches Science at the Elk River Treatment Program and Pinnacle Private Academy and Virtual School. Originally from Huntsville, AL, he has also lived in Colorado, Arizona, Oregon, Texas, California, Brazil, and Georgia. Bethany Bowden is the Assistant to the Director of Admissions. Raised in Kentucky, Ms. Bowden earned a B.S. in Organizational Communications at Murray State. She recognized a keen interest in counseling through courses at Murray State and continued graduate work in Community Counseling. Seeking a career in the helping profession, she worked in multiple areas of mental health including community programs, psychiatric hospitals and educational programs with a special interest in helping children who are behaviorally and intellectually challenged.

Ms. Bowden sought a position at Elk River Treatment Program when her husband accepted a job in Huntsville. The Direct Care position at the residential program allowed Beth to use her blend of education and work experience in the academic and mental health industry. “It was an eye-opening experience to see how many kids struggle with depression and anxiety due to trauma, grief and loss,” she said. Behaviors resulting from these issues are often challenging so self-control is an absolute requirement for Direct Care staff in a residential treatment program for at-risk teens.

Ms. Bowden's on-the-ground experience at Elk River has served as an advantage for parents who contact Elk River’s admissions department. “It is rewarding to provide guidance to families who come to us emotionally broken. Whether they decide to admit their child or not, we are here to listen, offer advice and provide direction.”

Selina Mason graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations-Journalism. She was a staff writer for area newspapers, an account executive at The Huntsville Times and the owner of an advertising agency. Ms. Mason's personal experience with at-risk teens led her to the Elk River Treatment Program where she eventually joined the group of professionals dedicated to improving the lives of struggling teens and their families. Although her primary responsibility is marketing the programs of Pinnacle Behavioral Health, Inc., Ms. Mason also assists with admissions. She is a Certified Peer Support Specialist and serves on the non-profit board of Not One More Alabama that supports families impacted by the disease of addiction. She lives in Huntsville with her husband Tony and has one son, Cassidy.
